My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Eve Dallas is a credit to all female detectives. It doesn't matter that her character fights crime in the future New York. She is thorough, devoted and headstrong. Just the right person to solve a murder case; no matter the century.

Dead or Alive

Dead or AliveDead or Alive by Tom Clancy

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A fast pace story, with so many twist and turns; it's almost impossible to keep up with every facet of the story. Tom Clancy weaves a tale, linking together multiple characters and plots; creating an ending that is sure to curl your toes. Of course; his cliff hanger is sure to be continued in his next book.

Childhoods End

Childhood's EndChildhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book forces you to look deep inside of yourself. Not intellectually; but in a way that demands you to ask deep probing questions. Who am I? Why am I here? What is my purpose? When I finished this book; I wondered if these characters asked these questions. There is a part in the story, where the writer leaves the reader with a large gap; more than eighty years time. While mankind is spiraling down; out of existence. The reader is left to wonder, how did the last of humankind see themselves. The descriptions are vivid and frightening. Yet, in the end; he manages to paint a picture of hope. A new beginning in a new galaxy.
